Hand over the Soujanya rape and murder case to CBI for investigation, demanded over a 100 students belonging to DK Campus Front of India (CFI) in a protest held in front of Deputy Commissioner's office in Mangalore on Thursday.

The students irked with the delay in investigation and providing of justice to Soujanya, took out a mock funeral procession of people's representatives who are denying justice to Soujanya's family, from University College to DC's office.

The students with CFI flags and placards, shouted slogans against the government and demanded justice.

However, when they tried to gherao the DC's office, the police stopped them with barricades and pushed them inside police vans and detained them.

Campus Front of India DK District President Sanaulla M in a memorandum to DC, demanded construction of a police station in Dharmasthala. "There is a need to give security to Soujanya's family and investigation should also be held on various other crimes held in Dharmasthala area, over the years," he added.

CFI State President Mohammed Iqbal K A, State Committee President Mohammed Thufail, State Secretary Mohammed Tasveer partook in the protest.

ABVP protest

The ABVP too held a protest, demanding justice for Soujanya at Basaveshwara Circle. ABVP District Joint Convenor Yatish Kumar P said that government should stop double standard. If the Delhi gang rape case can be solved at the earliest, even Soujanya case investigation needs to be quickened. Justice should be provided at the earliest, he added.

Transparent probe

The Post Graduate All College Students Assocation demanded CBI investigation and compensation of Rs 5 lakh for Soujanya's family. There is a need to conduct a transparent probe.

People should not target Dharmadhikari and Dharmasthala due to their personal grudge. One should not place forth baseless allegations and hence cause hurdle to the probe, said Association President Sahaj J Rai.
