The state government on Monday appointed Vidya, wife of police officer Kallappa Handibag who committed suicide a few months ago, as a sub-registrar on compassionate grounds.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah handed over the appointment letter to Vidya in Bengaluru.
She is posted as the sub-registrar of Bailhongal in Belagavi district.
Handibag was Deputy Superintendent of Police of Chikkamagaluru sub-division. He committed suicide as he was accused of kidnap and taking Rs 10 lakh ransom.
Investigation into the case is still on.
