Mysuru: Home Minister G Parameshwara visited Udaygiri police station in Mysuru on Friday and lauded the police for handling the mob attack incident efficiently.
The Udaygiri police station was attacked by a mob on Monday.
Parmeshwar held a meeting with police officials and stated, "I have information on why the incident occurred and who did it. I have directed the police to take stringent action against those who have erred irrespective of who they are.
"They have arrested the accused based on the CCTV camera footage. We will not let anyone take law into hands. If a person makes a mistake, police will take action and we will not give chance for any one else to do that."
He further said, "Party is not important for police. Protecting law alone is important to them," he said.
He also addressed the issue of different statements made by Congress leaders including K N Rajanna and M Lakshmana against police.
"When such incidents happen we cannot stop any one from making any statements as everyone has freedom of speech.
"We will correct those who give different kinds of statements at the right time. But political statements cannot demoralise police. But none should do politics on such issues." he said.
Parameshwara also said, "In UP there have been instances when bulldozers were used during such incidents. But there is no such situation in Karnataka. Let us see when such a situation arises," he said.
He also informed that, there is a proposal to have another police station in N R constituency.
"We will take appropriate action," Parameshwara said.
