State Women Rights Commission chairperson Nagalakshmi Bai said that an 87-year-old woman was being harassed by her son and grandson for property in the city. She visited the woman and directed officials to take action and help her.

Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, Nagalakshmi said that she has directed the (jurisdictional) Saraswathipuram police to keep a watch on the victim’s son Krupashankar and grandson Sandeep.

“Both Krupashankar and Sandeep have agreed to take care of the elderly woman Mangala Gowramma. Krupashankar has agreed to buy her food and medicines,” she informed.

Bai said: “Gowramma’s husband died in 2003. She has one son and three daughters. Krupashankar and his family are in Mysuru. Krupashankar has got all of his mother’s properties by convincing her to transfer them in his name. After getting the properties and the money, he abandoned and harassed her saying she was a burden to him”.

“Gowramma’s safety and health is the Commission’s priority. The Commission will help Gowramma get back her properties from her son, if she so wants,” Nagalakshmi said.
