This is the moot point of most discussions in the district among general public in the district, and also between concerned authorities of District General Hospital.
Keeping in view the complaints from the public such as absence of duty doctors during working hours, delay in providing in treatment and other complaints, the authorities of the hospital have installed Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) to keep tab on such problems a month ago.
As many as Rs 90,000 was spent on this taking into cognisance of 800-900 persons visiting the hospital regularly.
These CCTV cameras were installed at four places such as out patient ward, emergency unit (both inside and outside) and one at the office Superintendent of the hospital.
These CCTVs will record all the movements in the area where they have been installed. The footage can be saved for seven days.
Based on this, the Superintendent of the hospital can monitor the activities of all the four units seated at his chamber and can take action upon erring doctors and para medical staff. Though the CCTV was installed one month ago, not even one complaint was reported from the public, as per the records and no action has been initiated against anyone as there were no complaints.
However, speaking to Deccan Herald, Superintendent of the Hospital Dr Ramalingegowda told that this CCTVs would be installed in other units too, staff and duty doctors will be forced to be on their toes as a result of this.
