Alleging Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) of having committed irregularities in alloting sites in Channapatna, Rafeeq Durbar, an activist said a legal battle will ensue soon in this regard.

Addressing media persons here recently, Rafeeq said KHB was working as a middleman who was buying lands and selling it for higher rates to buyers. “All officers and ministers involved in this should be probed,” Rafeeq has said.

Stating that he had records to the mindless and partisan allotment of sites to people who were close to those in power quarters, Rafeeq said the officers weren’t honouring applications filed under Right to Information act, either.

“There is a rule that says sites should be alloted to those who have lived in the area for at least a decade. But, over 150 sites have been given to those who live outside Channapatna, and 129 sites among 132 sites under discretionary quota have been sold.

Proper records have not been maintained,” Rafeeq alleged.

Further, he said the KHB had reached an agreement with farmers, which stated the land owner who was giving it away, would be given a site and registration fees would be reduced by half. Though the sites have been given so far, none of them have been registered to farmers so far.

Rafeeq said he and his fellows would be moving courts very soon, these charges have to be probed in order to understand the magnitude of the irregularities. Jagadish, Mujaihid Pasha, Satish Patel and Sharief were present at the press meet.
