HC orders notices to Speaker, MLAs on journalists' arrest

The Karnataka High Court ordered notices to all respondents including speaker K B Koliwad, MLAs B N Nagaraj and S R Vishwanath, in a matter pertaining to Ravi Belagere's arrest.

Journalists Ravi Belagere' and Anil Raj had moved the court challenging their conviction and punishment of imprisonment for a year ordered by the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. They were held guilty of breach of privilege over alleged defamatory articles about the legislators.

Justice A S Boppanna said that this matters needs detailed consideration. He said that the all parties should be magnanimous in this matter until this case is before the court.
