The Karnataka High Court on Monday refused bail to Abdul Khader, one of the suspects in the 2008 serial blasts.

Khader faces charges punishable with a seven-year sentence. Since he has already spent three and a half years in prison, he approached the court for bail.

The State objected to grant him bail. The trial is in its final stages and 17 people were interrogated, said the State’s counsel.

“Within 45 days, the trial will be completed and at this stage, bail should not be granted.” It said it apprehended Khader fleeing abroad if he was granted bail.

“Further, he is likely to commit a similar offence again,” the State said.

Justice Nagmohan Das dismissed Khader’s petition.
