Addressing reporters, he refuted the charge by Reddy that he had favoured BSK Trading Corporation owned by his brothers when he was the chief minister.

“Reddy’s charges are baseless and aimed at covering up his own misdeeds. My brothers are running their own businesses since 1984. I have never seen S K Modi, a mine owner, who Reddy said had given me Rs 36 crore bribe,” he claimed.

Lease period expired

Kumaraswany alleged that Anantapur Mining Corporation (AMC) owned by Reddy has carried out illegal mining in the area which was leased to Black Gold Company in Bellary. The lease period of Black Gold Company expired in 1992. AMC conducted illegal mining in the name of Black Gold company, he alleged releasing documents related to income tax returns filed by AMC. Reddy had been claiming that his company is not doing mining activity in Karnataka and confined to Andhra Pradesh.

Later Kumaraswamy met Governor H R Bhardwaj and submitted documents pertaining to alleged illegal mining activities by a company owned by Minister Janardhana Reddy.
Kumaraswamy told reporters after the meeting that the documents will also be submitted to the Lokayukta and the chief minister.

KPCC President R V Deshpande on Thursday urged the state government to take immediate steps to stop illegal export of seized iron ore from Karwar port.

In a letter to chief minister  Yeddyurappa, copies of which were released to the press, Deshpande said while all attention had been focused on Belekeri port, there had been complaints of illegal export of seized iron ore from Karwar port. The forest department had seized 1.12 lakh tonnes of iron ore at Karwar port, the letter stated.
