Congress MLC V S Ugrappa on Saturday said former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy had denotified 238 acres and 16 guntas in Arkavathi Layout during his tenure as chief minister.

Reacting to Kumaraswamy’s demand to scrap Justice Kempanna Commission probing the land denotification scam in Arkavathi Layout, Ugrappa said the former chief minister was directly involved in denotifying 81 acres and 22 guntas. He claimed Kumaraswamy was scared of his illegal denotifications coming to fore and proving him guilty.

Ugrappa said that between October 1, 2007 and October 6, 2007 an additional 16 acres were denotified by Kumaraswamy. “He denotified 60 acres of land towards M/s Manyata Technologies on May 4, 2007. As far as I know, there was no report by any BDA officer or by the Land Acquisition Officer asking for the land to be denotified after its final notification,” said Ugrappa.

He also claimed that as many as 157 acres and 16 guntas were denotified during Kumaraswamy’s tenure after it was recommended by the BDA board. He said the denotification was done in two parts on May 31, 2006 and on September 3, 2007.
