AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka, K C Venugopal on Sunday asserted that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had not complained about his predecessor Siddaramaiah to Congress president Rahul Gandhi, during his recent visit to New Delhi.
Addressing the media in Bengaluru, Venugopal rubbished media reports on the Delhi meet as “baseless.” He said that Kumaraswamy was in fact happy with his alliance partner, and had nothing to complain about.
“I was very much present in the meeting which was over in four to five minutes. The chief minister told the Congress president that he had come to thank him on the occasion of his government completing 100 days. Nothing else was discussed. In fact, Kumaraswamy was very happy. He told all the leaders are cooperating and doing a good job. He also said that the government had done a good job in Kodagu and that it had fulfilled all the promises made to the people. Nothing happened after that. The media however reported that he complained about Siddaramaiah,” he added.
Venugopal’s clarification comes in the backdrop of speculations that Kumaraswamy was miffed following Siddaramaiah’s claims that he would become the chief minister again, if the people wished so. It was rumoured that Kumaraswamy took the matter to Rahul.
When questioned about BJP’s swipe at Rahul Gandhi for making a trip to Manasarovar through China, Venugopal said faith in God was not the right of BJP alone.
