HDK hikes allocation for H-K region

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday hiked the allocation for development of the backward Hyderabad-Karnataka region to Rs 2,000 crore from the earlier 1,500 crore.

Kumaraswamy chaired a meeting of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region Development Board (HKRDB) at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha where legislators from this part of the state demanded an increased allocation.

The Hyderabad-Karnataka region enjoys special status under Constitution Article 371(J).

Accordingly, Kumaraswamy directed authorities to prepare an action plan for works worth ₹2,000 crore. Through the Public Works Department, the Hyderabad-Karnataka region has been given 14,369 crore since 2013. Till the end of November, a total of 3,039 crore has been spent, Kumaraswamy told legislators.
