The majority of the roads were filled with water and residents in low-lying areas had a tough time as the rainwater had entered their houses.

Traffic on the main roads like Mahatma Gandhi road, Darga Mohalla, APMC yard and other roads were inundated with water blocking the traffic. The traffic police were finding it difficult to allow the vehicles to pass.

Besides potholes dotting the stretch of Darga Mohalla to aPMC yard also made traffic movement impossible.

The sudden downpour upset the office-goers and people had to scramble for space near the shops to protect themselves from rain.

“Roads are dotted with potholes. Moreover, the roads have turned into muddy stretch. How do the officials expect us to use this stretch? Every year, we face similar problems but the officials have turned a blind eye to this,” rued Rajashekhar.

Delay in UGD works

Following underground drain works in the city, the Darga Road is filled with water. “Delay in the work has left the water enter the low-lying areas as well,” said Krishnappa, a resident. “Politicians’ promise to make Chikkaballapur a beautiful city.

But when the basic infrastructure is lacking, their promise looks just an eyewash,” said a resident.
