Heavy rain and gusty winds caused damage in the rural parts of the district on Friday night.
In Tigari, the roofs of 18 houses were blown away due to the gusty winds. Devappa Hadapad, a resident, suffered injuries due to chunks of cement raining down on him. Strong winds felled electric poles, uprooted trees and damaged crops.
A pair of bullocks were killed when they were struck by lightning in Julakatte of Yalaburga taluk.
