Madikeri: Heavy rains intensified across Karnataka's Kodagu district on Sunday with the rains accompanied by strong winds.
197 electric poles have collapsed in the district during the last two days, as a result of which power supply is disrupted in many parts including Madikeri city.
Triveni Sangama in Bhagamandala is full for the first time in the month of May during the decade. The overbridge is, however, unaffected.
Kootuhole stream, which is the source of drinking water for Madikeri, is also full.
Trees are uprooted by strong winds.
Vehicular movement was disrupted on Suntikoppa-Madikeri, Kushalnagar-Somwarpet, Valnuru-Chettalli, Siddapura-Guhya, Siddapura-Arekadu and Shanivarasanthe-Kibbetta road due to tree falls.
A house belonging to a woman called Saramma in Karmadu village was damaged after a tree fell on the roof.
Fear of floods
Overflowing streams and rivers have created fear of floods in Kodagu district.
The lower bridge in Balamuri in Madikeri taluk is inundated. The movement of traffic is uninterrupted as another bridge is being used. However, there has been a significant rise in the level of River Cauvery.
Mallalli falls in Somwarpet taluk is in splendour as more water is flowing into the falls. Tourists have been thronging the spot to capture the view.
