The movement of goods carriers and other heavy vehicles through Kalasa-Kudremukh Road has resulted in damage to the road surface.
Following the closure of Shiradi Ghat, hundreds of trucks travel to Bengaluru and Hassan from Mangaluru. The local residents have raised their voice against the movement of heavy vehicles on the stretch.
JD(S) state unit Vice President H D Jwalanayya said, “The movement of heavy vehicles on
Kalasa-Kudremukh-Karkala highway has damaged the road, which is causing inconvenience to the daily commuters.”
He urged the authorities to ban the movement of heavy vehicles on the stretch.
The residents said that heavy vehicles also get struck on the stretch, inconveniencing other vehicle users.
