Home Minister M B Patil alleged that Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde's statement on chopping the hands of those who dared to touch Hindu girls aimed at perpetuating communal clash ahead of Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking to a section of mediapersons during his visit to Mangaluru on Monday, he said "Ananth Kumar Hegde wishes to be in news always through his controversial statements."

The Minister said "he does not honour Parliament and the Constitution. He is an MP who wanted to change the Constitution."

His statements on "chopping hands" does not speak good on him. The people will teach him a lesson in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Further, he said "Hegde is neither eligible to be in Parliament not as a panchayat member."
