The High Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail petition moved by parents, accused of ‘honour killing’ their daughter who was in love with a man from other caste.

Justice K N Phaneendra refused to grant bail to  Gurumallappa and his wife Manjula - accused of murdering their daughter Madhukumari from Chandravadi village in Nanjangud taluk, Mysuru district.  Madhukumari was in love with Jayaram, an electrician. Her parents were not happy with her relationship.

Jayaram had filed a complaint with the police accusing Madhukumari's parents of killing their daughter.

He had said that Madhukumari’s brother offered her juice laced with pesticides. They had burnt the body later. The court refused to grant bail as the case was still under investigation and the DNA and toxicology reports were awaited.
