Residents of Hosa Badavane stage a protest and warn of boycotting the polls on Thursday in Maddur taluk, Mandya district.

More than 100 residents of Hosa Badavane, here, decided to boycott voting in the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to be held on April 18, to protest against the negligence of the authorities in providing basic amenities to the area.

Staging a protest on Wednesday, they complained that though the layout with hundreds of houses is abutting the town, it has been neglected for several years as it comes under Goravanahalli gram panchayat limits.

Though they have been urging the GP to handover the area to Maddur Town Municipal Council, the GP members have not initiated any step in this regard, leaving the area under a state of neglect, they alleged. The area has no asphalted roads, underground drainage, or other basic facilities. Irked over the authorities for neglecting the layout, the residents have decided to boycott the polls, on Thursday.
