The lion-tiger safari at the Atal Behari Vajpayee Biological Park at the Bilikal reserve forest here is all set for inauguration in the first week of June.

The authorities are giving final touches to the park. Lions Kesari and Prema, aged six years, have been brought here from Bannerghatta. Two more lions are expected here within the next week.

Tigers Ramya, aged seven years, and Prithvi, aged six years, had been shifted here from the Mysore zoo two months ago. Chamundi, 7, and Sindhu, 9, are also part of the battery of big cats.

The officials expect the tigers to adopt themselves to the local conditions by June. They have fixed an entry fee of Rs 100 per head. Children below eight years of age will not be charged.

Enclosures are being built for the leopards, bears, jackals and hyenas that will arrive here from the Ballari zoo next month. Deer, nilgais and blackbucks were brought last year to the park spread over 149.5 hectares.

As many as 35 hectares each have month for the lion-tiger safari and the herbivores section. The entire park has been fenced and ponds have been constructed there for the animals to drink water.

The inauguration of the lion-tiger safari has been delayed by over seven months.
