Ashok Nagar police in Hubballi have identified the deceased as Peturu Gollapalli, who reportedly hung

himself when the rest of his family was in church on Sunday.

In a purported suicide note, Gollapalli blamed his wife for taking the extreme step. Gollapalli’s family members have lodged a

complaint against his wife at the Ashok Nagar police station.

Gollapalli’s father Obayya said that his son, who worked at a private firm, tied the

knot with Pinky two years ago.

However, disagreement between the couple resulted in Pinky leaving Gollapalli, and returning to her parents’ home seven months ago. She also filed for divorce.

“Pinky and her family, were demanding Rs 20 lakh in alimony. They were constantly quarrelling with my son and harassing him over the phone regularly. My son lost his job because of these constant phone calls,” said Obayya, urging police to arrest Pinky.
