Mangaluru’s denizens staged a protest opposing the construction of a Kabaddi stadium at Karavali Maidan as part of their ‘Karavali Maidana Ulisi’ campaign.

The protesters said that Karavali Maidan was the only open ground besides Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru.

Hundreds of people use Karavali Maidan for walking, jogging and other outdoor activities daily. The work on a Kabaddi stadium had begun on one portion of the maidan and this would disturb the people using the ground for daily exercise and public gatherings.
