Channapatna MLA and BJP leader C P Yogeeshwara on Thursday challenged former chief minister and JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy to contest against him from Channapatna Assembly constituency and emerge victorious.

Reacting to Kumaraswamy's decision to contest from both Ramanagara and Channapatna seats in the May 12 Assembly polls, Yogeeshwara hit back at the JD(S) leader saying: "Congesting from Ramanagara and Channapatna Assembly constituencies is a waste of money and energy. Instead, contest from my constituency, Channapatna. I will accept your candidature sportively and prove my might by emerging victorious."

Addressing reporters here, the former forest minister who recently joined the BJP said, "Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and his son Kumaraswamy have suppressed other leaders from the Vokkaliga community. The father-son duo is blackmailing voters emotionally. Deve Gowda should live upto his age while criticising others."

Yogeeshwara charged that the list of benami properties held by Kumaraswamy was too big. "Kumaraswamy owns properties in Singapore and Malaysia," he claimed.

He advised Kumaraswamy to strike a pre-poll alliance with a political party as the JD(S) might win haradly 20 to 25 seats. "Many leaders from the JD(S) are knocking on the doors of the BJP," he claimed.
