Friends, family members and relatives bid a tearful adieu to Manoj Kumar, the 32-year-old research scholar, who was killed in a gas cylinder explosion during an experiment at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The last rites of Manoj was held at the burial ground near Lalitha Mahal Palace in the city, on Thursday. Manoj, son of a retired principal of JSS College at Kollegal K Prakash, got married to Anusha a year ago. An MTech graduate, Manoj was an alumnus of JSS Public School, Marimallapa PU College and pursued his engineering at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE). After completing his education, he joined Super-Wave Technology.
