Illegal transport of cattle was prevented at two places in state on Sunday.

Prani Kalyana Sangha members stopped a lorry on its way from Anantapur to Bengaluru, transporting 30 cattleheads at Hitamakalahali in Chikkaballapur taluk. Police have booked the driver and the cleaner.

The Forest department staff fired at a vehicle transporting cattle illegally from Sullia to Kerala on the Karnataka-Kerala border at Koornadka in Sullia taluk in the wee hours of Sunday. The forest personnel were inspecting all vehicles when the driver of the vehicle in question tried to speed away. The personnel intercepted the vehicle and those in the vehicle tried to attack them with weapons. The officials first fired in the air and then at the vehicle. Those in the vehicle abandoned it and fled away. Police have booked a case.
