They also urged to set right the existing disparity in wages between the teachers and also revision of pay scales. They demanded increase in basic pay from Rs 8,825 to Rs 11,400 and amend the clauses in the transfer policy. The agitators wanted five to 25 per cent hike in their wages.

Former MLA K T Srikantegowda, who participated in the protest said the teachers demands are reasonable and the government should take decision regarding the issue as soon as possible.

District Association president Boregowda, Secretary H T Nagendra Rao, office-bearers and others participated.
