Veteran Congress leader and sitting MLA from Kittur D B Inamdar, who had announced that he was quitting the party on Wednesday evening, made a U-turn late in the night and said that he was staying in the party. He refused to give reasons for changing his decision.
The party is yet to announce its candidate from the Kittur seat. Inamdar was upset that the party had failed to consider his name.
Inamdar was to arrive in Kittur on Thursday or Friday and hold meetings with his supporters to decide on the next course of action. He was elected from the Kittur constituency five times, in 1983, 1985, 1994, 1999 and 2013 elections.
