Speaking after inaugurating the newly-constructed ACC Cement Factory near Tondebavi in the taluk on Saturday, Moily said that several projects have been initiated with a view to generate employment in the taluk.

“The works on providing drinking water and developing roads are already in progress. A sum of Rs 8 crore has been released to upgrade Madhugiri-Gauribidanur road as National Highway. A proposal has been submitted for construction of overbridge on Madhugiri and Karekallahalli roads and the approval is expected shortly,” he revealed.

Appreciating the efforts of the Company in seeing that the Rs 350 crore factory started production in a span of ten months, Moily postulated that an industrial revolution is the need of the hour to take the country on the path of progress. He said that honest attempts will be made to address unemployment in Chikkaballapur district and sought cooperation of the local elected representatives and officers in the task.

He also hailed ACC for its efforts in providing employment to the local people.
Stoppage has been provided for Prashanthi Express and Kurla Express to benefit the people of the taluk, Moily said. The minister said that the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre has been according priority to rural development and accordingly, emphasis is being laid on the same in the taluk also.

Minister for Wakf and Minorities Welfare Mumtaz Ali Khan, who is also the district in-charge minister said that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has been laying emphasis on rural development and the state government is making attempts to reduce unemployment by establishing industrial estates in rural areas.
Legislators N H Shivashankara Reddy, N Sampangi, K P Bachegowda, Deputy Commissioner Anwar Pasha, tahsildar Dr Sudha, Plant Director N Keshav,  Managing Director Sumit Baneerjee, taluk-level officers, Tondebavi villagers  and others were present on the occasion.
