The Commission has completed examination of 800 witnesses in connection with attacks in September 2008. According to a official release, the Commission is now in the process of finalising the schedule for arguments by advocates representing various societal sections including the police department and the government.

The arguments will be heard district-wise from Thursday between 3pm and 5 pm. The Commission, with a view to providing sufficient opportunity to the parties to present their cases, has sought extension of its term. Commission’s term will expire on August 31, 2010.

The witnesses who have deposed before the Commission include Hindu and Christian memorialists, representatives of churches, Christian and Hindu organisations, human rights activists, police and government officials.
