Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil on Wednesday directed officials to carry out road repair works at night in order to reduce inconvenience to the people.

The deputy commissioner addressed a meeting of the district-level Road Safety Committee.

He discussed at length on the repair work and development of roads. He also directed officials to identify the accident-prone areas. “Besides filling potholes on the roads, authorities should instal reflectors, provide zebra crossings and other basic facilities. The speed breakers too should be painted,” he instructed.

Senthil directed City Corporation Commissioner Mohammed Nazir to evict street vendors once a week and make them shift to locations identified by the Corporation for street vendors. “A committee should be constituted to shift the street vendors to the given yard,” he added.

The deputy commissioner directed the RTO to cancel the permits of bullet tankers that violate rules. “All bullet tankers should have speed breakers and strict instructions should be issued to the drivers,” said Senthil.
