In his address, after felicitating senior labour union leaders at the May Day celebrations organised by the Mysore District Construction Workers Association at Naidu Nagar on Sunday, he said the government had already initiated measures to extend insurance cover to construction workers.
He asked the labourers to impart good education to their children to enable them to get a decent job. “The construction workers have no security for themselves and their families,” he regretted.
G Mantelingaiah, president of State government ‘D’ group Employees’ Association, corporator Lakshmamma and others were present. On the occasion, six skilled labourers were felicitated.
