Udupi: The police arrested an inter-district burglar and recovered a car, mobilephone, cash Rs 84,500.
Udupi Superintendent of Police Dr Arun K said the arrested youth was identified as Arshith Avinash Dodre (24) from Yojana Nagar in Byndoor. A team led by Karkala Circle Inspector Manjappa DR intercepted a car which was moving suspiciously near St Lawrence High School in Nitte village. During the interrogation Avinash confessed of having burgled schools in Udupi.
He allegedly had burgled St Joseph's English Medium School in Belman village, Karkala taluk in February. He had stolen cash of Rs 1.50 lakh and 3 DVRs. He also had damaged the school's CCTV. A case was registered at Karkala Rural Police Station.
Later, between March 6 and 7, unknown thieves broke the lock of the headmaster's room at the Government Higher Primary School in Nandalike village, Karkala taluk. They opened the cupboard door and scattered the registers. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Karkala Rural Police Station. Unknown persons had broken into the office of St Maria Goretti English Medium School in Hirgana village, Karkala between March 4 and 5 and decamped with Rs 60,000 cash, a CC camera DVR worth Rs 5,000. Based on the school's complaint, a case was registered at Karkala Town Police Station.
The arrested had been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
