Mangaluru: Mangaluru CCB police in separate cases seized three pistols, six live cartridges, 12.895 kg of ganja, five mobile phones and three vehicles, Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said on Thursday.

These items amounted to Rs 40.50 lakh.

The CCB police stopped a Scorpio with Kerala registration number in Natekal area.

They arrested Noufal (38) from Beemanadi village and Mansoor (36) from Paivalike village in Kasargod district in Kerala on Wednesday.

On inspection police found two pistols, four live bullets and two mobile phones.

Commissioner said that Noufal already had six cases related to drug trafficking in various police stations in Kerala and Mansoor had four cases related to drugs trafficking, criminal intimidation in police stations across Kerala.

The value of seized articles was around Rs 14.60 lakh.

After getting a tip-off regarding drug smuggling, the CCB intercepted a car in Arkula on city's outskirts and arrested Abdul Latheef alias Thoku Latheef (29) who was found in possession of 12.895 kg of ganja.

Latheef from Bandyodu village confessed to supplying a firearm to Addu alias Badruddin from Vamanjoor.

Both Badruddin, an accused in accidental fire shoot out, and Latheef are members of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI).

Latheef has 13 cases related to supplying firearms, robbery and attempted murder registered against him in Kerala and Karnataka. The value of seized property was estimated around Rs 15.70 lakh.

CCB police arrested Mohammed Asgar (27) and Mohammad Sali (31) from Kadambar village in Kasargod district in Kerala after seizing one pistol, two live bullets and mobile phones.

The value of seized property including a car was estimated to be around Rs 10.20 lakh.

"Efforts are underway to arrest other accused involved with the notorious criminals," Commissioner added.
