Jarkiholi told reporters here on Friday (January 24) that many of them who have availed loans from microfinance companies have complained that middlemen cheated them by assuring a 50 per cent subsidy which was not there. Now, they are being harassed to repay loans.

The two incidents, one in which a woman committed suicide unable to bear the harassment near Yamnapur and in another case, a young mother along with an infant were ousted from the house at Tarihal in Belagavi, have come to my notice, he said.

"Police have begun investigating the cheating cases. Recovery of loans and harassment is different. If there are complaints of harassment, action will be taken against the concerned", Jarkiholi noted.

To a query that BJP leader B Sriramulu was being lured to Congress by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar to counter him, Jarkiholi subtlely said- "I am unaware of the developments and I got some inkling in Bengaluru".
