Hassan: MLA Swaroop Prakash said that the government should take the mishap which claimed the life of an IPS probationary officer seriously and provide well-equipped vehicles for the police officers, to prevent such incidents. It would also be discussed in the cabinet session, he said.
Paying last respects to the mortal remains of IPS probationary officer Harsh Bardhan, who died in a road mishap, near Kittane in Hassan taluk, at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences, he said, “There are allegations that the vehicle provided to Harsh Bardhan was substandard. Initial investigation says that the accident occurred due to a tyre burst. However, the exact reason will be known after complete investigation”.
"It should be mandatory to install necessary facilities, including airbags, in the convoy vehicles provided to dignitaries and VIPs, including the Chief Minister. Appropriate protection is necessary for those who work day and night to protect the public," he said.
The mortal remains of Harsh Bardhan was handed over to the family members on Monday, and was taken to their native place in Madhya Pradesh for the last rites.
Harsh Bardhan was killed in a road mishap, near Kittane in Hassan taluk, on Sunday night. The seriously injured officer was treated at a private hospital, where he breathed his last.
