Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar distributes a kit to one of the survivors of Mangaluru floods at the deputy commissioner’s office on Monday.

Kits containing necessary equipment were distributed by the Indian Red Cross Society district branch, to the flood survivors in Mangaluru, during a programme held at the deputy commissioner’s office in Mangaluru on Monday.

A kit contains necessary kitchen items, blanket, saree, dhoti, towel, mosquito repellent net, umbrella and a bucket – all worth Rs 5,000. The items in the kit could be used during emergency situations.

A total of 170 kits were distributed to the survivors on the occasion. There are about 250 survivors and the kits will be distributed to the rest of survivors, the IRCS representatives said.

IRCS District President Shantaram Shetty, Secretary Dr Rajesh and KUIDAF official Prabhakar Sharma were present among others.
