Mandya: Citing the gheraoing of Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy by Congress members, for his remarks against Rural Development Minister Priyank Kharge in Kalaburgi, recently, a BJP leader asked, “Is not the Constitution in danger now?”

Addressing a media conference, in Mandya on Friday, M S Paramananda, secretary, BJP state SC Morcha, said, “When MLC and Opposition Leader Narayanaswamy was in Kalaburagi, he stated that ‘an elephant is not distracted by barking dogs’, in reference to Kharge. While Narayanaswamy was staying at the guest house in Chittapur, Kharge allegedly sent his supporters to target the former. The rowdy elements, sheltered by Kharge blockaded him for over three hours. We do not understand if we are in a democratic state or under Kharge's dictatorial rule”.

Paramananda said, “If Kharge cannot tolerate comments and satirical remarks against him, he should also refrain from making baseless and unnecessary remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He should recall that Kharge and his father himself called the Prime Minister a 'poisonous snake', during an Assembly election campaign in Naregal, Gadag. Have these people forgotten how the BJP members exhibited restraint, then?”

“The BJP Scheduled Castes Morcha condemns the Kharge family's attempt to personally target Narayanaswamy, who is exposing their corruption and misdeeds. They should stop mental and physical assault on Narayanaswamy,” he said.

“In August 2022, when the then Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah visited Kushalnagar, and a villager flung an egg at his car, pseudo-intellectuals and Congress members shouted that the Constitution was in danger. Now, is the Constitution safe?" Paramananda asked.
