Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) aspirants are planning to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and submit a memorandum to him, on the delay in issuing fresh notification by the State government to recruit gazetted officers.
Kumar, one of the KAS aspirants, at a press conference here on Saturday, said: “The last time the government issued the notification was in November, 2011. As per the amendments made to the Gazetted Probationer officers’ (1997) Recruitment Rule, the government should issue a notification for the recruitment of gazetted probationary officers for Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ posts, every year. But the government has not issued notifications for recruitments in 2012 and 2013. It is only after the notification that the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) can go ahead in conducting the exams,” he added.
The KAS aspirants said that they will meet the chief minister and Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj next week. Their other demand is to conduct re-exams for 2011 candidates following corruption charges in the selection of candidates for the posts of gazetted officers.
One of the applicants, who did not wish to be named, said: “I obtained 870 marks in the Mains examinations in 2011, but was never called for an interview. KPSC authorities told me that the cut-off marks was 938, while, the actual cut-off marks for the Mains is 860. The CID probe is through and we want a re-notification to be issued and re-exams to be held for the candidates who appeared for the 2011 exams.”
The KAS aspirants said they had submitted memorandums to the chief minister, KPSC secretary, principal secretary of the Department of Public Administration and Reforms on issuing fresh notifications, but had not received favourable responses from the authorities.
“Several candidates are aging, waiting to appear for the exams. There are 1.86 lakh accumulated vacant posts in various government departments,” said Prashant Shankar, another KAS aspirant.
