In an article dated January 4, 2009 on his blog Justice Kumar has said that having denied permission to hold a meeting of the High Court judges, he had circulated a letter amongst his colleagues apprising them that they can meet and debate over the topic as part of their ‘study circle’ meetings.
“This was not a meeting to pass any resolution, but only to enlighten ourselves with a little study beforehand.
Unfortunately, the media has projected the meeting as a rebel meeting to pass a resolution against the Chief Justice,” the judge says, terming the media coverage as more speculative than of reality.
Justice Shylendra Kumar said that these meetings were informal and inhouse meetings of judges to discuss and debate over legal issues of current importance.
