Belagavi: MP Jagadish Shettar slammed Labour Minister Santosh Lad for criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the outcome of Operation Sindoor and the ceasefire.
He said Lad cannot equate the stature of Modi and should first introspect the statements made by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor regarding Operation Sindoor by keeping political affiliations side before commenting on the prime minister.
Shettar told reporters here on Friday that terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir was targeted by our armed forces and the neighbouring country has been taught a lesson in retaliation for killing 26 tourists at Pahalgam in Kashmir. Modi has cautioned Pakistan that if any future instigation would be given appropriate reply.
"Congress leaders including Lad were criticising the ceasefire. There was need to take measures on the long term requirements of the country. Peace witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir after Modi assumed office was never seen in the history. Lad should know that the country has been suffering due to the mistakes during the rule of Congress. Part of Kashmir was occupied by Pakistan and China during the Congress rule," he added.
"Tharoor appreciated Modi’s action in retaliation to the terror attack at Pahalgam. Instead of making immature statements, Lad should scrutinise the statements made by veteran leader of his own party. There was also need to ignore cheap statements by Congress leaders," Shettar stated.
He said, in 1971 war with Pakistan when Bangladesh was created, Congress leaders give credit to former prime minister Indira Gandhi and now under Operation Sindoor when Pakistan was taught a lesson, they were crediting the armed forces and not the leadership of Modi.
United States President Donald Trump has stated that himself did not intervene to stop the war between India and Pakistan, while Congress leaders were saying that Trump pressurised for ceasefire, he said.
