Bengaluru: The Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Wednesday restored the membership of BJP leader and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy as MLA for Gangawati, while stipulating that it was subject to “further judicial pronouncements.”
On May 6, 2025, Reddy, along with three others were convicted in the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) illegal mining case by a CBI court in Hyderabad, and were awarded a seven-year prison term, in addition to being levied a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
“In view of the order dated June 11, 2025 by the Telangana High Court, the disqualification of Janardhana Reddy has ceased to to be in operation, subject to further judicial pronouncements,” read the notification by
Karnataka Legislative Assembly Secretary M K Vishalakshmi.
