Bidar: District incharge Minister Eshwar Khandre on Sunday offered a free engineering seat in his family-run college in Bhalki to the student who chose to skip K-CET Maths paper after he was denied entry into the exam hall for wearing janivara (sacred thread worn by Brahmins).

Khandre, along with Minister for Municipal Administration Rahim Khan, visited the residence of aggrieved student Suchivrat at Chaubara to offer his and government’s support to the student and his parents.

Expressing his regret over the incident, he offered an engineering seat for free at his family-run Bheemanna Khandre Institute of Technology in Bhalki, if the aggrieved student wishes to pursue BE.

“We want to ensure his education doesn’t suffer. Hence, I am offering a free seat to Suchivrat at BKIT. I am not sure whether there’s a provision to hold a fresh exam for him. We are looking into the possibility. I have spoken to the higher education minister in this regard. However, he can write the Comed-K exam. The government is with the aggrieved student and his family,” Khandre said.

“The staff at the exam centre has committed a mistake. This is unfortunate. I have instructed the authorities concerned not to repeat such mistakes in future. After I got to know about the incident, I directed the DC to hold an inquiry and submit a report within 24 hours. Stern action has already been initiated against the staff based on the report,” the minister said. On April 17, the student chose to skip the Maths paper when he was asked to remove janivara (sacred thread worn by Brahmins) before entering the exam hall.

Interestingly, he was allowed to appear for Physics and Chemistry papers on Day One of the exams.
