Prime Minister and Union government have not responded to the letter written by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan requesting them to file their reply in the apex court, he said.

Representing Maharashtra government at the border convention organised by Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) here on Friday at Lele Ground in Tilakwadi, Patil said, the petition has been pending disposal in the apex court with the Union government not filing its reply.

He assured the Marathi speaking people in the boundary areas of Karnataka that the government and people from Maharashtra were with them. For the last one decade demands for small states have mushroomed and many small states too have come into existence.  Contrary to the trend, Marathi speaking people from boundary areas want their areas to be merged with Maharashtra.
