The district has in total been captured by the JD(S), which has bagged  four out of seven constituencies. The Congress has won two seats, while the remaining seat was captured by Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha (SKP).

While two villages of the district - Doddarasinakere and Chikkarasinakere have contributed two MLAs -  D C Thammanna of JD(S) and M H Ambareesh of Congress, respectively. Another village - Arakere, which has contributed nine MLAs to Srirangapatna constituency, saw A B Rameshbabu Bandisiddegowda winning for the third time. Both Bandisiddegowda and runner up Ravindra Shreekantaiah (Independent candidate) are natives of Arakere.

Confusion

Supporters of K Annadani, JD(S) candidate of Malavalli constituency, started the celebration even before the final results were announced. He was announced as the victor by a few TV channels, following his lead till ninth round with 5,287 votes.

This led to his supporters burst crackers to celebrate the victory. However, P M Naresndraswamy of Congress at last won by a wafer thin margin of 538 votes.
Ambareesh has registered victory with 42,937 votes. Though he has emerged victorious for the third time, candidates recommended by him - Lingaraju (Srirangapatna) and L D Ravi (Melukote) have tasted defeat.

K S Puttannaiah, has been re-elected for the second time. MP N Cheluvarayaswamy has won from Nagamangala constituency from JD(S), paving way for by-election of Mandya.
