Close on the heels of the BJP's Nava Karnataka Nirmana Parivarthan Yatra, the JD(S) will launch its pre-election tour from November 7.

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Friday, JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy said the first leg of the pre-poll tour will be launched by holding a massive convention at Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency in Mysuru district.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is planning to contest from Chamundeshwari in the 2018 Assembly polls. At present, he has been elected from the neighbouring Varuna seat, but Chamundeshwari has been his home turf for several years.

During the tour, Kumaraswamy will be travelling in a custom-built AC bus replete with a bedroom, toilet-bath room, a mini-kitchen besides a small conference cubicle. Between November 7 and 9, the tour will cover the districts of Mysuru, Chikamagaluru and Shivamogga. The bus has been named "Karnataka Vikasa Vahini".

The party has organised a farmers' convention at Belagavi to coincide with the commencement of the winter session of the state legislature on November 13. Party workers will be arriving in bikes to the venue from Raichur, Bagalkot and Vijayapura districts.
The second leg of the tour will commence from November 25 soon after the conclusion of the legislature session and cover 50 constituencies in North Karnataka, he said.
