A meeting between Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and JD(S) MLA Venkatrao Nadagouda triggered speculations on Sunday.
Nadagouda held talks with Yediyurappa for more than an hour at the circuit house in Sindhanur. The chief minister was in the town to take part in the campaigning for byelection to Maski Assembly constituency. BJP state Vice President B Y Vijayendra and BJP candidate for bypoll Prathapgouda Patil were present during the meeting.
The JD(S) has been claiming that it would field a candidate for the bypoll.
However, Nadagouda told reporters that he discussed irrigation projects with the chief minister and no special significance need to be attributed to the meeting.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, Yediyurappa said that his son B Y Vijayendra won’t contest the byelection to Basavakalyan Assembly constituency.
Yediyurappa said that there was no plan of fielding Vijayendra from Varuna constituency as of now. “Instead, Vijayendra will camp in Mysuru for strengthening the party in the district,” he said.
