The week-long ‘KSOU Virtual Job Kart’, job fair, organised by the Placement Cell of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), in collaboration with Job Kart India, received good response with 8,200 people registered to participate in the mela.

The job mela commenced on Monday and concludes on March 22. KSOU Vice-Chancellor S Vidyashankar inaugurated the event online.

More than 103 companies from across the state are participating in the job mela. The purpose of the job fair is to provide employment to rural youth, women and the deprived. Candidates who have completed Bachelor’s, Postgraduate, ITI or PUC from any university can attend the fair.

The candidates can download Job Kart app on their mobile phones and fill their name, qualification and date of birth. One can also upload a profile and video of their skills. The companies will provide employment information through the app and interview will be conducted online, said R H Pavithra, KSOU Placement Officer.

There are 3,200 different positions available with the companies that participated and a few more companies are likely to participate in the mela in the days to come, she added.
