Job mela in Hassan: 682 candidates secureSkill Development Commission to train 2,000 candidates

He was speaking at the valedictory function here on Saturday. The representatives from 80 companies participated in the mela and selected the candidates of their choice.

On the first day, the interview was conducted for candidates who have studied from seventh to tenth standard.

 Out of the 2,500 candidates who appeared for counselling, 250 got selected. Interviews were also conducted for candidates who have passed BBM, BBA, MBA and other degrees. A total of 432 candidates were offered jobs by companies.

Commissioner for Employment and Training Umashankar said the turn out for job mela has been less in Hassan when compared to other districts.

The department would provide training in the areas of interest of the candidates. However, no stipend would be given during training period, he added. Member of Legislative Assembly H S Prakash, L V Polytechnic College faculty Panduranga, Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Parvathamma Nanjundachar and others were present.
