Mangaluru: A medical professional from Mangaluru has fallen prey to an online job scam, losing a total of Rs 4,20,062 after being promised a lucrative position at a hospital in Dubai.

According to the complaint, on June 6, the complainant received a call from a woman identifying herself as Sangeetha. She claimed to be associated with NMC Hospital, Dubai and told the complainant that details about a medical job opportunity would be sent via email. An email from an ID support@thejobsswitch.com soon followed, detailing the job role and salary structure. Subsequently, a man named Vinay Singh, contacted the complainant, asking for a registration fee of Rs 5,499.

Trusting the offer, the complainant made the payment on June 13.

Later, in the name of profile verification, additional processing, licensing, NoC, the fraudsters sought money. Accordingly, a total of Rs 4,20,062 was transferred in a phased manner.

When the fraudsters later demanded an additional Rs 2,62,000, the complainant became suspicious and refrained from making further transactions. Upon inquiring with friends about the job posting, the complainant learned that the said position did not exist.

The victim has now filed a complaint to Kankanady Town Police station, demanding strict legal action against the culprits who misused online platforms to exploit job seekers.
