As heavy rains continue to lash the district, the world famous Jog Falls has come alive once again with tourists flocking the falls to be immersed in its beauty. As the water plunges from a height into Sharavathi valley amidst greenery, it is a mesmerising sight to behold.

As Sunday being the weekend, over thousands visited the falls and police had a tough time to manage the traffic near the falls. Vehicles were parked up to 3 km right from Seethakatte bridge to Shirur lake on Kargal-Sagar route. Vehicles were parked on either sides of the road, leaving little space for other vehicles to move. As Jog is closer to popular pilgrimage centre Sigandur, the number of tourists had doubled, on Sunday. 

Meanwhile, various development works at a cost of Rs 183 crore is being undertaken by the Jog Management Authority. As a result, tourists were being allowed in front of Bungalow of Mysore to watch the cascading beauty. 

It is estimated that over 5,000 tourist vehicles visited Jog and more than Rs 2 lakh entry fee was collected on Sunday, according to sources in tourism department. 

Besides, new parking facilities is ready to accommodate 500 vehicles at a time near the falls. "This needs to be inaugurated at the earliest to regulate the traffic density. MLA Beluru Gopalakrishna need to consider this," observe local people and tourists.
